Cate Hops
Cate Hops is a cultural worker, curator, dj, performer and radio host with a scientific background in visual and media anthropology.
Her ideas revolve around the concept of space as a social practice.
Musically, she embeds herself in the Berlin bass scene as well as in the experimental noise scene. In her dj sets she fuses ambient, heavy bass lines, early roots reggae and futuristic sound patterns from all areas, while her live performances are signified by dense spherical layers of ambient noise. Cate Hops plays as a solo performer, as well as in different projects together with Lunário as the duo 'Ruido Polimnix' and Fra Zedde as 'KYOOT'. She initiates an annual event series called 'Sound System Culture: On the radical roots of rave' and has co-founded the Fem*noise network.
