Latens et repertum
A sound art project for a hidden moss

____________________________

At the centre is Sphagnum russowii, an almost imperceptible inhabitant of Berlin’s urban nature that was considered lost for nearly 50 years. Christina Ertl-Shirley approaches the moss through sounds from sites where it was rediscovered, moss-inspired sound sculptures, and forms of linguistic and tactile engagement.

At the same time, the project asks what becomes visible, audible and memorable – and what remains overlooked.
At ausland, the project unfolds as a walk-in installation that can continue to change over the course of the exhibition through linguistic, sonic and tactile contributions.
