An evening as part of the biegungen im ausland consisting of three solo sets, which is entirely dedicated to a highly versatile instrument: the drums.

Sofia Borges expands the possibilities of her instrument with everyday objects that you find in every hardware or household goods store: metal pieces, kitchen items, toys. The sound range that can be heard in her solo sets is as flexible as her instrument. With her free, open playing, she treats tempo as a variable, as one category among many, with no claim to dominance. Electronic sounds complement Sofia Borges’ lively percussion style.

Ilia Gorovitz has had a decisive influence on Berlin's artistic underground in just a few years. As an organizer with a sure sense of taste, Ilia Gorovitz presents exciting international acts from the fields of sonic experiments, noise and improvisation. Each program he is responsible for is an uncompromising manifesto. As a musician, he is involved in various projects, including the minimal noise rock duo Stumpf and the bands PΞB and my blood is confusing. In his solo sets, the drummer shows his preference for complex rhythms and different degrees of distortion.

Sometimes delicate, sometimes powerful, always absolutely focused, this is how Pedro Melo Alves appears on stage. In his virtuosic live concerts, he gives the sounds enough space to unfold. Alves switches easily from contemplative soundscapes to complex, dense figures on the drums. The Portuguese musician and composer crafts amazing music from skins, rims, cymbals and objects at the highest technical level. His sets are like journeys of discovery through the sonic diversity of his instrument.
