Reimagining Time Through Body, Nature, and Sensation

You are invited to enter an evolving performance to move, rest, observe, and experience time differently with us, while we express the outcomes of the residency time in performance, dance, sound and voice explorations. Starting from around the fire in cold times, the doors of our studio are open to you all, to enter and enjoy this warm playful time together in a relaxed atmosphere — whether observing or joining in.

What happens when time is no longer ruled by the clock?

The MANATIS collective investigates forms of time shaped by bodies, sensations, and the rhythms of the natural world. When we perceive time, we experience it as it unfolds—intertwining memories, detours, and the blurring lines between actual events and what we have already (re-)invented. Playfulness is not a distraction, but a way to live through time fully: embodying its shifts and transformations as our bodies drift through a flowing river of expected and unexpected episodes. From the time of a bird, a mountain, a river, or a chronically ill body to geological and capitalist time, every temporality follows its own logic. How often does time clash with incompatible times?

Drawing from crip theory, queer perspectives, and ecological observation, the collective questions the dominant linear model of time—one built on productivity, efficiency, and control. Instead, they explore temporalities that emerge through fatigue, rest, repetition, interruption, instinct, and heightened sensory awareness. Their residency process integrates choreographic research, movement practices inspired by animal behavior, rhythmic experimentation, and collective dramaturgy, all rooted in accessible methods that adapt to the group’s shifting needs and energies. Here, rest and pacing are not limitations, but generative creative forces.
