BolBola

is an Egyptian “aristocrat” icon based in Berlin. Her persona comes as a form of a mnemonic identity that derives from Michael(a) Daoud’s upbringing in Egypt to mirror the idea of Diaspora and Exile through a satirical lens as a form of healing.

BolBola plays on the intersection of parody, performance art, politics and absolute bullshit. Self-scripted and choreographed with a dash of hatefulness and lots of love. Michael(a) Daoud (BolBola) is an interdisciplinary artist working with archive, conceptual and performance art in the expanded field of time-based art, and currently pursuing their postgraduate studies at inter-University Centre for Dance at the Berlin University of the Arts - M.A. Solo, Dance and Authorship (SODA).

Her works were presented in Berlin at KINDL contemporary, ACUD MACHT NEU, Schwutz, Ballhaus Ost, Atelier Gardens, PAF – Performing Arts Festival Berlin, STAMP street art festival /Hamburgand, Oslo World Festival/Norway, OpenOut Queer Art Festival Tomsø/Norway and  SIFA – Singapore International Festival of Arts amongst other.
