Sylvia Bruckner, geboren 1951, lebt in Wien; aufgewachsen im Waldviertel; der starke Bezug zu Natur und die Vorliebe zu Einfachem, Unverschnörkseltem, Authentischem blieb weiterhin in ihrem Leben bestimmend; früher Instrumentalunterricht am Klavier ließ die Liebe zu Musik entstehen; nach vielen Jahren autodidaktischer Beschäftigung studierte sie Jazzklavier am Konservatorium der Stadt Wien bei Fritz Pauer, spät erst nahm sie klassischen Unterricht an der Musikuniversität Wien, den sie 1998 abschloss; seither Unterrichtstätigkeit mit Schwerpunkt Improvisation; sie gibt Konzerte sowohl als Solistin als auch in verschiedenen Ensembles  u.a bei internationalen Festivals wie bei den Konfrontationen Nickelsdof, dem Festival Schnittpunkte, bei  Disobedience in Ljubljana,…Zusammenarbeit, Konzerte, CDs u.a. mit Martina Cizek, Hamid Drake, John Butcher, Joelle Leandre, Edith Lettner, Tanja Feichtmair, Susanna Gartmayer, Thomas Berghammer, DDKern,... obwohl sie sich zu Musikrichtungen verschiedenster Genres hingezogen fühlt, ist ihr besonderes Anliegen stilistische Freiheit jenseits aller vorgegebenen Normen, spontanes Agieren aus dem jeweiligen Moment heraus, wie es der Cover-Titel ihrer CD "What Becomes" ausdrückt.
