Emilie Škrijelj

Emilie Škrijelj is a french sound artist who explores the interaction between the sound, the body and the space. She plays the accordion and the turntable as a percussive instrument in a physical approach. She explores the accordion in its smallest folds and uses it as a generator of electroacoustic materials. Inspired by her research on the turntable, she brings the accordion to the abstract territory of electronics. On the turntable, she uses vinyls as much for their contents as for their surface to create electro-acoustic textures. She develop several projects dedicated to experimental and freely improvised music together since 2019 as the free-improv duo ”Les Marquises” with Tom Malmendier(drums, accordion, turntable, electronics), several trios with Mike Ladd, Otomo Yoshihide, the sound art/performance Bruine with Michael Thieke and the label ”eux sæm”.
