jopa jotakin was born sleeping on a stormy autumn night in 1986. jopa lives, reads, loves, writes, works, cycles, eats, drinks, and sleeps in and around Vienna.
A show or reading by Jopa Jotakin is an immersive experience that blurs the lines between experimental poetry, subcultural performance art, and witty deadpan comedy, and we at ausland are proud and looking forward to host it.
In Jopa's readings you can also expect live electronic soundscapes, ambient noise, and what not. jopa's work frequently intersects with sound art, as seen in projects like SPIRAL BIKE – Soundrides of Resistance.
Expect: a mix of avant-garde poetry and stand up comedy heavily influenced by Dadaism and structural subversion, heaps of humour, absurdism and language mash-ups.
A show by WonderSka is a high-energy, DIY punk-adjacent powerhouse party deeply rooted in the Berlin subcultural music scene.
Formed in 1998, this minimum 7-piece, probably all-female band (affectionately describing themselves as over 50) will massage us with the song favourites (or should we call them anthems?) some of us know from street parties and rallies, and will probably lead into an unpretentious, merciless dance experience.
Their origins root in Berlin punk, and they explicitly avoid corporate marketing and commercial booking. They thrive on playing street festivals, local block parties, and raw club stages.
Expect: a wall of brass, dancing from beginning to the end, and political lyrics around Berlin or our contemporary pre-apocalyptic zeitgeist..
