Step Sisteris a live performance by Samira Saraya, Stav Marin and Neta Weiner, moving between music, poetry, storytelling, movement and martial arts. Bringing together songs, original texts, dialogues and physical scores, the performance explores intimacy and conflict through the encounters between Arabic, Hebrew, Yiddish and German, as well as between spoken language and the language of the body. Developed over the past three years through residencies, workshops and touring between Jaffa, the East Coast of the United States and Germany, the programme brings together works created along this journey into a shared artistic language. Through this performance, the artists examine the relationship between artistic creation, solidarity and co-resistance, asking how these practices can inform, sustain and transform one another.

accompanied by a two-day workshop,Step Sister explores the emotional landscape where intimacy and conflict become inseparable. It inhabits the space between alliance and rivalry, care and violence, tenderness and survival, asking how these tensions can become the ground for artistic creatio. 

This performance brings together works developed throughout the artists' shared practice over the past decade. Weaving choreography, spoken word, music and multilingual performance, it offers a glimpse into an evolving artistic language in which body, text and voice continuously shape one another across Arabic, Hebrew, Yiddish and German. Rather than resolving the questions opened in the workshop, the performance keeps them alive, inviting audiences into a living artistic practice shaped by friction, vulnerability, humour, resistance and the continual negotiation of difference.

Samira Saraya, Stav Marin and Neta Weiner have collaborated for more than a decade, developing a shared artistic practice at the intersection of choreography, performance, music and cultural activism. Working together as Palestinian and Jewish artists, they place the relationship between body, text, voice and place at the centre of their research, exploring how bodies carry memory, conflict and collective imagination, and how language itself becomes choreographic material. Their collaborations span multilingual hip-hop, dance theatre, site-specific performance and interdisciplinary stage works presented at leading theatres, festivals, museums and cultural institutions across Europe and the United States. Together they co-founded Beit System Ali, a Palestinian–Jewish cultural movement and educational centre for cultural activism, and have played a central role in System Ali, the pioneering multilingual hip-hop group. Alongside their artistic work, they have developed an extensive pedagogical practice, leading workshops, artistic laboratories and university courses together and individually at institutions including Harvard University, MIT, Tufts University and the Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts. Across all these contexts, they continue to develop a performative language in which choreography, voice, text, multilingual practice and martial arts become interconnected tools for exploring power, memory, solidarity and new possibilities for artistic encounter.
