Dudù Kouate

Dudù Kouate was born in Senegal into a family of griots, known for preserving African cultural and musical traditions. After studying humanities in his home country, he moved to Europe. Since 2017, he has been a regular member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, working with Roscoe Mitchell and Don Moye, plays regularly with Moor Mother and Abel Selaocoe.

Dudù takes the listener by the hand and guides them on a virtual journey through African sounds, reinterpreted with style and originality: the shifts in rhythms and harmonies stir emotions. This perspective allows us to almost ideally see the outskirts of Dakar, the natural landscapes, the savannah, the desert, the villages, and the stories of humankind.
